I didn't mean to "dump on" or flame anyone, there's a lot of other examples of some of the curveballs organizers are faced with when doing a show... that's not just me, but all dealers that host events. And it's these curveballs that sometimes delay or postpone a show.
A perfect example was this weekend at Darknights, when the USACi show was cancelled because the people at USACi had concerns about SARS . They didn't want to come up because of it and apparently the organizers of Darknights didn't get notified until a day or so before the show.
IMO, that was very unprofessional of USACi and they could have at least given the courtesy of notifying the organizers of Darknights a lot sooner.
Anyway, I had a customer come in so I gotta go. I hope this clarifies.
To be continued...

True enough, and it seems you can always tell, can't you ?

This is very unfortionate, and personally I dont think it should happen, I think if someone helps organize an even they should have an idea of the major aspects of it, or at least know who to ask if they don't. I think that sort of killed the show too, from what I've heard it was half as big as other years and it wasn't as good either. Personally I was a little disappointed."
That really sucks, I hope Tinted got it straightened out. I had a few people say to me at the show that they weren't told until they paid their entry fee and were already inside the grounds. One guy asked for his money back and wanted to leave but they wouldn't refund his entry fee.
I even offered to set up an IdBL event for them. I found out Friday night when I got to the Fairgrounds and spoke to one of the Darknights staff there. He said that would be great and would get back to me asap to let me know if they would do it. I never heard back from them all weekend. My thought was there must have been a bunch of people pull up on Saturday morning to register for the comp and were told there wouldn't be one and left really p.o.'d. I figured any event at the show would have been better than none and was happy to help if I could, but it didn't seem to matter to them. Oh well, at least I tried.

Most (not all), but most of the shows I've showed up to and compete in, that were shared with any sort of "import show" have either been a joke or a no show. When you try to approch any event organizer about the audio end of things they blow you off or say " I'll get back to you as soon as I know something". B.S. All they seem to care about is their Honda's, Acura's, Nissa's etc...
If you rolled up with a souped up integra or civic and asked them I'm sure they would have a totally different attitude towards you. Sorry! You pulled in , in an Astro van, thats a domestic we don't care. That is a key reason I stopped competing. That, and I wasn't all that good to begin with.

I'm sorry you had that kind of experience. With all of the IASCA shows in Canada this year, there are people who are trying to change that. Hell I would even let you help out at my events, or even judge. With some training of course. Hopefully your experiences will be get better...
