let's hear
Tom hit it bang on...... enclosure is sooooooooo very important, especially in a pick up. Also find woofers that are looking for 300-400 watts each so they will be the most efficent with the available power.
With the right enclosure and woofers 4 12's will be good and nasty with 1500 watts.
A few years ago we did a BIG A$$ 4th order in a Chevy S10 with a pair of 12's and 1000 watts, man that was insane!!!!!
Be picky about the enclosure you use and if you are going to do build it yourself try a few different things. I used to have 6 JL 10's sealed with a pair of Orion HCCA 225 amps in my Dakota and that hammered hard, played low, and the physical beating on your body was great. Now keep in mind that was about 6 years ago so I am sure my concept of what "loud" is has changed a little.
Good luck....
