What's it mean by putting a load on the mic?

Someone told me to put my seat all the way forward and the sun flap down to put a load on the mic.

Whats this do? What's happening?

heheh.. it's like making a an spl pouch for the air pressure to stay in that one area around the mic.

it's like the reason why your spl is louder with the mic under the pasenegr dash then at the windshield. You have the foot well and that creats a huge pocket for pressure to build.

Wouldnt the seat and the visor block the air from the sub hittin the mic?

I would have thought it would be louder from the foot well because it's further forward than the windshield which would let the sound wave lengthen that much more.
Or maybe they're the same, I haven't seen a car for a while

it doesn't have anything to do with wavelengths, its about building pressure,pressure is directed to the area containing the least amount of pressure, so in some cases when you flip your seat forward and sunvisor down, you can create a low pressure spot at those areas which in turn will creat a high pressure spot in front of it, though all the times i have seen it the footwell is always louder, in every vehicle.

</font>
Your thinking velocity not pressure. The way I look at it is that pressure will always go the the lowest pressure zone. If you create a hight pressure region, the the pressure will want to go to the lowest region. In Extreme that would be by the sensor if you can duplicate that. In street some vechicles work by making a pocket or a low pressure zone by folding down the visor and or moving the seat up and folding it forward. It`s hard to say what I want, without showing you first hand. But do you kind of understand??

Pretty interesting shiza happenig here.

So maybe having one of those big ol' CD holders on your visor would help out in this case. It usually hangs a slight bit lower and would make the visor more dense?

***yeah man, check dis ish right here yo. I got dez fo 12 inch subz in da back hurr and they pound crazy tight yo. And ta gain da extra dee-beez i go hurr and beef up dis sun visor yo. fo real dough iight! Dis ish be da ish braugh!
