MTX MXS1204 vs. RF. Punch Stage 1
Here's the situation:
My friend has a set of 10' RFF Punch stage one subs and I have a pair of 12' MTX MXS1204 subs...
Mine are in the Sledgehammer Ported box
and his are in the RF Bandpass box
Mine are powered by an Infinity Reference 311a
his are powered by an unknown RF amp (strange enough, he doesn't know what amp he has :/)
My friend has listened to my subs b4, but I've never listened to his.
Apparently, he says his subs will terribly own mine, which I can't believe.
He has challanged me to an SPL contest...
What do u guys think? Should I go for it? I mean, not to sound cocky, but I highly doubt his subs will "own" mine..

The thing is with most store bought generic bandpass boxes is they get ridiculously loud by sounding sloppy and flexing a lot. If he were to turn it down a bit and try to listen to the music it would sound like crap.
If you were to go to a competition you would probably beat him. There's a difference between getting clean loud bass and having a crappy pavement pounder.

Well, im not to sure about your box, but a member on this site helped me build box for one of your mtx subs. Shortly after doing so i gave the sub to my brother... Put it this way there was enough bass from ONE to make the wipers rattle/physically move to the bass. With the right box those mtx pound pretty good.

I've got one mzs1204 in a ported box built to MTX's specs and it pounds pretty good on 250ishwrms. (orion hcca 250 amp) but it's definately not like my IDMAX at 900 w... still, my bud has 2 rockford 10's and it def beats those...
way too many variables, but it should be even if he has the same size amp as you, but the bandpass as others have said may get louder, but sloppier at the same time.
