I've got one of them.. Works like a charm slip the wire in the terminal, pop it in there, and give it a good whack with the hammer.. nice crimp

I find this thread very informative. Thanks guys. I've had plenty of issues crimping and I think I'm gonna invest a little into some proper tools....after I get through my primary ordeal.

What good is a stereo in a car with no engine?

Crimp then solder, that way both fanatic camps are satisfied. Seriously, solder, especially under a hood. It is the only way to ensure that you get no corrosion.

One could argue (for the sake of being a pain in the ***) that unless you were able to crimp your stranded wire into a solid strand, then there would still be a miniscule ammount of air in there.

a 12 or 15 ton hydraulic crimper will pretty much do that actually. (just to be another pain in the ***)

Yes but people do not have that machine sitting in there shop, either way Tinted and I have tested a Crimped connection ( Vise + Hammer + my shoe ) to a soldered one and the soldered works better

I've seen some half-assed connections before, but using a shoe to crimp wire.... we have a new winner.
