boat

well its in 91 caprice, which has a reeeeeally big trunk. and its a pretty big car... which upsets me cause it's gonna be alot harder to make it as loud as it would be in a smaller car... im looking to tune it at about 60 Hz. The box can be pretty much as big as it needs to be, cause i dont need any extra trunk space. I have two 4x8' 3/4" mdf, a tube of liquid nails, and drywall screws. the thing that confuses me most is the lenth and diameter of the ports... could anyone make up a quick design for me?

that sounds like the ideal solution for that car if u didnt mind cutting up the rear deck..if ur good at fabing up panels you can make it look really good and keep it sounding nice

yeah im still a little worried about rattles...im gonna cut the hole for the sub and build a box below it in the trunk...although i was considering closing off part of the trunk. except im not that sure how to do it...cause ill need it airtight so im considering putting a hole in the rear deck, putting a square orf woof over it and cutting through it, andhaving a layer of the carpet stay between the wood and metal, just to eliminate rattles.then once the sub is screwed in and hooked up, i would like to put a layer of fiberglass over a section of the trunk in the back to save the effort of making a box.

build the box, woofer(s) facing up. once u built it... stick the box under the rear deck and trace it out... cut as much metal as you can without loosing too much structual integrity of the framing. if u can build a channel around your box up to the rear deck using wood... screw the wood to your box and then screw through your rear deck into this wooden channel... now its all joined together and wont rattle.(you can even add some PL premium or bulldog to gelp join to the rear deck) now take your rear deck cover cut out the centre leaving a few skinny bracing cross members inplace. cover it with carpet and you have a pure stealth install with mega bass in a car that would normally suck... a bit of work but great results!

You're wasting your time if you're using drywall screws.

oh:S..what kind of screws should i be using? also, ive joined cajunkyard and found someone to design me a box...they suggested a bandpass box with a port that leads into the car. he said it would save alot of effort and would sound just as good...it does kinda sound like a good idea, so i think im gonna go with it...unless people think i shouldnt? . but thanks for all the suggestions. im still pretty confused about this whole thing. when it comes to enclosures im pretty useless lol. oh and just another note...i just got 0 gauge wire today and had no clue it was so big...anyone know where to hide it? lol
