Well in my truck i have a box right behind my seat. gmc sonoma. Subs up, port up and the subs are inverted so with my windows down the air flows throw the windows and right on the motors, seems to work and looks good at the same time !

I built myself a very efficient enclosure, used an osciloscope to assure a clean signal, and am feeding my subs no more than their RMS wattage. Actually best system I have ever had. I have pounded for almost an hour and got very little VC smell, actually the only song that gave me the smell was "White girl" which is understandable, due to the extremely long and low frequencies the song has....and loudness wise, it does a 149.1 in bass race.

Don't some basket/magnet setups have better cooling abilities than others? Or so they claim? Like larger poll vents, or the little vents at the base of the basket that allows you to see the coil. What about "cross-vented poll piece", or I seen DD's with angular slots cut into the poll pc... Do they not have some advantages over other subs that don't have these features?

I remember Murilo or maybe it was DBDon saying the rear poll vent made very little difference in terms of cooling the sub.

I read that the W7 has superior cooling to whatever else.

that song only drops down to like 33 hz. not that low, I mean, its low, but now that I'm used to what 33 hz is supposed to sound like I find it isn't so bad lol. now Put On drops low, especially and slowed versions. how low I'm not sure, but the only song I think might come close is Get Your Walk on by X to the Z Xzibit, but that only drops to 29 for half a second, and I slowed that down to see what would happen and I got it to 26 hz...not a fan of 26 hz, and I don't think my subs are either.

Thanks for the info, but honestly I don't think it has too much to do with the frequency on that song....but more on how long it holds it for, I approximate it holds that tone for about a good 30 secs at a time.

well I know the bass is constant, but there is a huge change. and I know, well I think I know, that lower notes take more power to produce and that one switches back and forth pretty evenly. unless I'm thinking of the wrong song.

It does help cooling, as the side opening in baskets. The only problem is that a vent in a pole will restrict the magnetic flux.
