Indeed i did. haha If you are looking at the effort it takes to compete at a show. Whats his name there seems to think thats all there is to it.
James i was going to mention your name in this thread but i figured you would chime in sooner then later. Prefect person to ask about the worlds of both SQ and SPL.

To say SQ is easier then SPL is silly, and shows a lack of knowledge in general. From a "getting into the sport" point of view. SPL is much easier, as there are few rules to follow. At the top levels, it would be a more even match though. When I was in SPL I knew exactly what place I would end up in. That wasn’t the case for all the classes, but it was for mine. I started in SQ because I want a different challenge and a more realistic system.

I would really think about your comment "To say SQ is easier then SPL is silly, and shows a lack of knowledge in general"...and think about it. I have been there done that...

Wow, that is a bold as A-Teams statment! lol

176db's doesn't come without "lack of knowledge in general" i bet i spend more time in the garage doning spl than you do.

imo i think it takes just as much knowledge and skill for both sq and spl. Just as hard and has their challanges.

Thats what I said. SQ is NOT easier then SPL. I also said that at the top levels, they are an even match (from a work point of view).

And Rip Rock is correct! I would agree that you spend more time in your garage doing SPL then I do, as I don't SPL at all. Yet!

I've done both SQ and SPL in the past. Both take work to do well. I stand my my previous statement and will gladly argue the point in another thread. This thread was started with my question why is SPL ugly. I really havent gotten many answers other then you dont get DB's for looks. Which I understand, but I would hope the average car can still look decent from an install point of view and still compete with the "ugly" cars.

You did get your answer. With the continual modifying and rebuilding by those who are serious about SPL competition, it makes absolutely no sense to make anything SQ-pretty until the person is 100% happy with their results.

Take a look at Clay's (A-Team's) build on Nex. He painted/sanded/beautified his first build, and a few weeks later it got the sawzall treatment and a total rebuild. Not all SPL is ugly, but unlike SQ you don't need pretty to win.

I haven't read a more retarded topic in awhile. Both SQ and SPL take time, effort, money, knowledge and a great skill with a multitude of materials to make happen.

Why don't we start another dumb topic called SQ "why do they all look so good but never win at SPL comps."

Both are two ways people express their passion for sound and to look down upon either one aspect of car audio really does no good at all. And to say one or the other is more fair to compete in obviously has not been been to both over a period of time.

We can maybe come together and create a new thing called SQPL.....wait I think people do that too.
