On my way home today I heard a commercial for World of Wheels and it suddenly struck me...

Why couldn't we have a db Drag at World of Wheels?

I think that would be awesome and great place to have multipoint...and a great place to promote the sport!!

Just my thoughts...Whats yours??

BTW..If someone would be willing to put on the show for next year,I'd be in on trying to help make it happen...

Great idea Aaron! I think you are on the right track. You just have to talk to the right people. Who are the right people?
I think it would be a good place for a big show with all the people attending the event, you would be bound to find a few new competitors.

Its a bigass car show with what always seems to be the same cars every year...the same displays...about the only things that change are the celebrities that appear....

I think it would be awesome and a great sport promoter to have a full out db Drag event at one of them....

I just sent off an email to the organizing body for the show...as follows...

Is it possible to have a sactioned db Drag event (www.dbdrag.com)at the 2006 Calgary Alberta World of Wheels?
We are a groud of car audio fans, who in some cases own some of the loudest mobile audio equipment setups on earth.
We are always looking to find ways to promote the sport in a postive light and try to get new competitors involved.
Please feel free to email me for more info about this.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you for you consideration of this possible event.

If you want this to happen, please email them through here...

i will tell u why not. b/c it takes time and money to hold a show and in canada spl events do not bring in enough money to pay off for that time and investment.

this is exactly why Audio Thunder 3x is gone. It was held every year at a HUGE import and custom tuner show. every year the Db Drag attances for Audio thunder grew bigger and bigger. Guess how many cars where there for the spl section of the show last season??? yah thats right OVER 70 VEHICLE and the entry fee was something like $90.........this year they cut it off completelly saying that it didnt bring in enough money to pay off for the investment.

So good luck Aaron. With your email maybe u should have send them a plan on how to attract competitors AND paying spectators, how to promote the event so it reaches the target audiance, how to negotiate the space renting contract, how to cover the rent and power costs, how to be compliant with fire and safety regulations, how much to charge the competitors, how much to charge the spectators, how much the trophies are gonna cost, who's gonna pay for the certified judge's accomodations, how to get a discount rate at the local hotels for all spectators and competitors, and where to get the money to pay Db Drag to have a 3x show.........im just scratching the surface here, there is LOTS more things that need to be considered before u can say WHY NOT have a 3x show!!!!! So once u have all that figured out send them another email, as im sure they just simply laughed at your first one b/c it was just *soooooo* 'enlightened' from the business stand point.

I don't mean to be an ***.. but when you send a "business" related email you'll probably want to make sure that the spelling/grammer is a bit better. (it doesn't matter on the forums around here, but in the business world it does)

also... you basically said "we've got a great idea for your show, contact me about it"

I'm willing to bet that the show organizers will look at it and just ignore it.

When sending an email like that you have to GIVE all of the details. Don't make them come chase you.

These shows are either run by car guys or business types. Neither of which will really know anything about dbDrags or car audio competitions. So you saying that you've got a loud car doesn't mean anything to them.

You have to explain what it is and how it will benefit them

A+ for the effort & initiative though.

....At least I'm putting forth some type of effort to promote db Drag...Something I don't see a lot of others doing....I've decided that it's more productive to at least get the wheels in motion(or at least attempt too)then to sit here going "When's the next show?"...More people need to try and make the shows happen...

If I had the cash for a TermLab,I would be hitting everyone I could to try and get as many shows as I could!

Shoot me down for my efforts if you so wish...But I know at least I'm doing my part to make db drag bigger and better.....
