1999 Acura 1.6 EL Build Log
Hey guys, after talkin with MANY helpfull people from this forum, giving me all kinds advice, tips etc. I finally started my SQ build. Ive taken my time to start my build for alot of reasons, one being deciding which speakers to go with, If I wanted a 2way or 3 way, passive or active and just to make sure that im going to do things right. This is my first ever build, so be nice....lol.....jks.....ANY Input negative or positive just post it, since I am still learning and can still learn ALOT more. To wire the whole car took about a full day to do, hopfully I did it right. I will post a few pics a day just to keep this thread alive, Once I order my speakers, and start testing for speaker position I will post progress pics.
Once we took the back seat out we found about $4 dollers worth of coin, from the previous owner, which just means coffee for the week

First thing we did was take out all panels, seats and carpet, vacumed all the floors then cleaned it with a liquid degreaser. We then started to apply a layer of FatMat on the floor, front to back. Then we started to run the 3 Sets of RCA's, Subs, Mids, and Highs.
Will add more pics tomorrow

Pioneer Preimer 880PRS Head unit with built-in DSP
RCA's are Monster Audio Cables
2AWG Lighting Audio Power cables
1 Remote wire 16 AWG
8 runs of 14AWG speaker wire for mid-range n mid bass
4 runs of 16AWG Speaker wire for tweeter
Got the spools of speaker wires from an electrical supplier.
Going with Hybrid Audio Speakers, I will be purchasing the Imagine line Midbass and tweeter combo, then the L3 mid-range. I heard the Imagine line is a great started set, if anyone has experience with this line, let me know your thoughts
Location of Midbass is going to be in the kicks or doors
Mid-range I would like to put in piller
Tweeters in pillers
But will see with some testing where the best location is for my car

Based on the design of the dash and pillars in that car getting a mid pod up there will be interesting to say the least. On a side note does your car have different seats or something because to my knowledge all the EL's from that generation had a hole in the center of the headrest and yours do not have that?

Yea Frank's right I got black seat covers on both seats. Well I got some testing to do once I order the speakers, to see which is the best possible position for them. Has anyone tried the Imagine midbass-tweeter kit from Hybrid??
Here are some more pictures.
We ran all 3 sets of RCA's behide the head unit, following the center of the car, then across the front of the seat, then right down the driver side to the trunk.
Power and remote where ran on the passenger side

the Imagines are a great set, definately btter than most sets twice their price. The tweeter is a little bright, and they don't have a crossover network, midrange plays full range, tweeter just has a capacitor, but it's all it really needs. You can use the HU and amplifiers crossovers to make the setup you're planning fully active so that would be a good route to follow.
However you build your dash pods, make sure to give L3's a lot of breathing room, they really are happier in an infinitate baffle setup over sealed enclosure.
Other than that, you should have a great sounding car if you set it up right!
