Sounds kinda tacky, but maybe spray painting the mesh a bronze/copper color might make it blend better with the tweeter?

That is a very good option - thanks but I'm not focusing on the grills for another day or two. Still have no sound.

Phase plug is metal and not a moving part.

I am not judging anything, just offering the following for consideration: I recall an install judge that used a ball point pen as his gauge of whether a grill or cover is sufficient. If he could touch a speaker or battery terminal with the tip of the pen then you lose.

Kinda used to **** off the guys that used that heavy duty expanded metal over their subs. Suddenly it was insufficient
