Home speakers, in general, are a bad idea in a car, because of the dampness there.

In my view, DIY is not the same as home speakers. Any respectable automotive speaker is designed for the auto environment, ie temp extremes, vibration, humidity, etc. Needs not generally designed in to a home style speaker.

I think placement is key. I can see exposure to sunlight or water causing harm...

I don't follow on the vibration statement though...

You have a point that needs to be made but automotive speakers dont work well wet either... but if you are using kick panels and A-pillars it isnt much of an issue.

I think the moisture/ humidity issue is a concern for the door, and if you are buying pricey drivers you should protect them as needed. I have never seen automotive vibration being an issue for any driver (now someone with a jeep and a winch should chime in...). But sunlight is an issue for pro or home drivers and could shorten the life of a product mounted in the rear deck or dash (I have also had UV damage to automotive speakers as well)

DIY must include home and automotive and marine and pro audio, as a group DIY are essentially monkeys with footballs, and are prone to experimentation and failure with the occasional success story.

no use for the vifas at this point... had another idea... but i must say these vifas seem to be top notch quality

I am currently trying to upload some pics I took of the drivers... having troubles, but i should have 'em up in a min.

I am going to get this business done asap, so i should have installed pics in a couple of days!

Those Vifa 6.5" drivers are beautiful! What are you going to do with them? Which tweets and mids did you buy?
