Alpine type s tweeter vs type r tweeter
. Kinda like how Infinity makes 2 ohm speakers to compensate for the wire resistance. I just barely hear the S's in the rear so it's just perfect. I don't like cars that have all soundstage at the front and hardly any rear fill. To me I should be able to hear the rear a bit. It kinda sounds like the music comes from between the front seats.
It sounds like the R and S combo worked perfectly for u. I do like to hear a little from tha back speakers as well. Did u do any fading
I read that about infinitys speakers as well and IMO it's BS. I just measured 20ft of OFC 16g speaker wire and got a reading of .2 ohms. I'd love to see what would happen if you put 2 pair in the front of an old blazer with 6's in the door and 4x6's in the dash. The deck would see just over 1 ohm and you'd be blown fuses. You could run them in series and it would be perfect, but extra work. I don't know what kind of crappy high resistance wir they were testing with. Probably rusty steel or something.

Whatever the case it worked out. I thought that too about older vehicles and Infinity speakers. I think it's too early to tell but my bet is there will be some complaints about fried headunits if they are truely 2 ohm. Anyways enough about ohms (talking to myself) I didn't use any fader. I just run them all equal and full out. I used to have problems with the bass overpowering the music but now it's a good balance.
did you think of testing those type S's off another source? sound like maybe they were DoA..... cause i had a set not to long ago and on 75w a peice they sounded great. i Have had a few DoA speakers in my journey through car audio. They were mostly tweets too.
I didn't try a different source but I tried both sets of S's on the same source and they were the same. I don't think I could get 2 tweets that were doa in the same box, or could I? IDK, but what I do know is that I am happy with the R's. The S's mid sounded loud and fine but the R mid has way more midbass which I like. So I made the right choice by getting the R's even though I had to fork out lots more dough. Also, I can upgrade to a bigger amp later if I want.
