Alpine Type X Questions
Whats the difference between the alpine type x 10 inch n the 12 inch?
Both are 1000w rms?
1)Obviously the 12 inch must pound louder, but is it a a huge difference?
2) Which amp do you guy recommend, i was looking into the pdx1.1000, but its about $560. Im looking for a sub for under 300 bucks, used one for under 250, depending on the amp
3) The 10 inch only needs 1.5 cubic feet ported, while the 12 needs 2.0, will this be a huge difference in terms of sound?
4) How can i make my own box to specs? Is there a software i can get for free? Or can someone tell me the messurements i would need to make this box. As long as i know what the exact messurements are, i belive i can build it with no problem.

I just built my first box. My thread for the build is here http://www.canadiancaraudio.com/onli...-box-need.html
I would reccomend building a sealed box if you are going for sound quality and ported if you want more spl. RE has a handy little app on their site it's a good place to start. You can design a box on there and it will tell what wood sizes you need. Just go to Rona or home depot and get them to cut pieces to size in 3/4 inch MDF.

Both are 1000w rms. 1.5cf3 for the 10" is around the max. space you'd want to give it and 2cf3 for the 12 is the least, I'd use 2.5cf3 for the 12.
A 10" has 78.5 square inches of cone area, a 12 has 113", so it's not a big difference. The 12 can play lower and the 10 is probably tighter.
There are better subs than the Type-X for your budget.
The RE calculator is screwy when using a second port length and isn't accurate, it's easier to design a box the hard way using a port length calculator.
If you're debating either a ported 10 or a sealed 12, seal a 12.

Ok cool, but sound wise, which is louder, also i want a spl set, so thats why i was looking into it, also the type x 12 inch i can get them for only 340 bucks.
and im really not familiar with any other brand.
I did here the jbl 2 12 inches in there band pass box, and that sounds nice, but its only 300w and with an amp i can only get it for 450...
Any one got another god sub, equal of greater than the type x for around 340

Close but no banana. I have a deal on a big DD3512 sub and a monster amp but the amp is not even close to that price range I hate to say. I would need to find you a "off brand" amp that makes claims of greatness about power ratings or find you a used amp to hit that price point. I will not sell you something I don't beleive in though just to make a sale. I would rather tell you right out of the gate that new equipment, done properly for this level of subwoofer is going to cost some $. $900 mark + gst and shipping, definitely can do.
