Amplifier for SQ

Not neccessarily better if you spend a lot of time running around the car, but most people get it "close enough" and that's it.
One would think 'tho that an equally priced amp without the extra gadgets might have better overall SQ, but I've not heard the Alpines in question in a decent car.

I was never a fan of the 'V12' Alpines but their current fare seems very capable - from the few I have played with. Of course their old black amps were excellent but that's not the question.

Any kind of amplifier shouldn't color your signal unless it's being clipped (even pyle) and there should be no sound difference in SQ. When you start driving the amplifier in to its upper limits that's where things aren't so equal, such as efficiency (power vs. heat), distortion. Manufactures of better brand amplifiers tend to under rate their power ratings sometimes up to a few 100 watts RMS to avoid having their amplifiers over driven when someone demands 500 watts out of a 500 watt amplifier. Manufactures of cheap brand amplifiers tend to over rate their power ratings sometimes by half and also tend to advertise peak wattages instead of RMS values. Now when someone demands 500 watts out of a 500 watt amplifier they start clipping the hell out of the amplifier well below their power requirement and the signal gets distorted the amplifier starts running hot and eventually fails. No amplifier should change your signal to better or worse under normal operating conditions, it should only amplify your signal.
