Audio install in a Mercedes W210 - help needed
Hi everyone! new guy here..
I am an audio enthusiast, have made about 5 car installs so far, but have been out of the scene for a couple of years now.
Up till a couple of weeks ago i was still enjoying my 5-yr old install in my benz (now sold) .. i had focal utopias up front , an infinity kappa perfect 12.1 sub, a kicker kx600.4 amp, and a reallly cool Pioneer P77-mp headunit.
Unfortunately I had to sell the focals and the kicker amp with the car.
As you might imagine from the above I really like a good SQ setup, and not an all-out LOUD spl setup.
Now my dad wants me to install a good sq system in his car, a 1997 mercedes e class (w210).
I was planning the following:
- A GOOD set of speakers in the front doors (already bought some Hertz MLK-165 )
- A good, powerful 4ch amp (i already have a RF 851X (110rms x4)) which i will probably use
- My infinity kappa perfect 1.2 sub in the trunk, probably in a custom fibreglass box (which will be a first for me)
My dad likes some rear fill so i will retain the oem rear door speakers and connect them with the head unit rear channels. I really dont like any rear speakers in a "normal" sq setup, i think they're redundant .. but if he wants them i will make them work, and we'll probably end up fading them out.
I now only need to buy the head unit .. I was thinking pioneer DEH-9300SD. They say that it has high-grade audio parts, and it has 3 sets of high-volt pre-outs, so i guess it should have decent sq.
He needs usb and sd card input. Thats why I am after this unit.
The other problem I have is tweeter placement ..
The Hertz 6.5" woofer will be placed in the stock location in the front doors, with the use of speaker adaptors.
Where should I put the tweeter?
Option 1: in the stock location (triange near the rear view mirror)
Option 2: on the red dot on an angled bracket
Option 3: on the blue dot on the dash
In my (unprofessional) opinion .. option 1 is quite easy to do, but I dont think its the most location as the sound will probably change with the window open or closed. The biggest advantage is that I wont mess up the door card.
Option 2 I think is the best local, audio-wise. but i will mess up the door card
Option 3, i think is very bad for sound imaging. But it will make for a super easy install, and is the option that was recommended to me by the hertz agent.
Thoughts??
Pls help!!

yep easy one...double sided tape or silly putty on the back of the tweeters and try them in all the locations until you're happy with the sound. All three of those locations are easy to mock up...so no guess work involved.

Itīs a very good idea.
It will play upper 300 hertz on your dashboard and the mid woofer and the sub will do the rest!!!
Donīt forget to place the full directly to your ears and the most important thing: Delay!!!

full range speaker? no cant say i have.
but as i said, i already bought a set of hertz MLK165 .. these are excellent SQ speakers ..
i just need to make a decent install with them.
i will do as others suggested .. double-sided tape and experiment with tweeter placement.
i will also use road-kill sound deadening material in the doors to eliminate rattles and to sound-proof the entire door, make it as air tight as possible.
anyone with experience with the pioneer deh-9300sd?
cant seem to find any real reviews :/
