Best 12" SQ sub

Subs really important for SQ?
Okay, I'm obviously lost here. This is the SQ forum and we're talking about a pair of 15" subs, or 3 x 10"?
Now, I know that there is a substantial difference between some crappy Thump brand subs and a high quality brand (whatever your preference may be) sub, but what is the point of talking about SQ past 120 / 125 dB? Shouldn't the focus be a LOT more on mids & tweeters? I mean, if you are going to spend over $500 on a sub (not to mention an amp), wouldn't you be better off upgrading from, say for example, a $200 component set to a $700 component set?
I'm not saying that bass - I'm talking < 80 Hz here - isn't important, but is there really much difference between higher-end subs when you are listening to music from instruments, rather than from electronic synthesizers (i.e. "Rap bass")? If you listen to a lot of rap, then SQ probably isn't your topic. That's just my opinion.
I'd much rather have one nice 10" or 12" and then focus on the never-ending challenge of making my components sound better. In my opinion, the subwoofer serves one purpose - to accent a small portion of the musical spectrum, not to drown out the rest of it.

Well balanced setup that cover the entire range of sound spectrum is the key....

yea, there shouldn't be more focus on one aspect of your sound than another, subbass is just as importnt as snappy, clean midrange or crystal clear highs.
Also, lots of people think because a driver says Seas or Scanspeak or Focal or whatever, means it's gonna be the end-all SQ driver just like the whole world did with the W7....that's not true at all, if a Pyramid or Legacy driver does what you need it to do, and does it well, that's the driver for you, forget about what name brand it is.
Other thing is: FAR too many people judge speakers/subs by the price tag. That crap needs to stop....go listen to a driver before you knock or praise it.

And yes, the rumours about the idq v.3's and idw's making a come-back are true.

Also in competition USACI anyway you are judged on spl in your SQ score(which I think sucks)so me with one sealed 12 and an excelent sq score, lose to guys with two L7,s and a no half bad SQ score! It a harsh reallity
