Best SQ amplifier
McIntosh RULES!!!!, which I happen to know of one for sale, if anybody is interested, 50 watts RMS X4. McIntosh is great.
I honestly dont care if you guys laugh, go right on ahead, but I hooked up a Sony explode, 50watts RMSX4, and it sounded quite good for the price you pay, I have a $5000 Home stereo reciever, Im not comparing it to that, but It did almost reach that bar or tonality and vocal clarity as set by the receiver.

For me, when it comes to a SQ amplifier I'd say I'd have to pick two types, one for my low bass, and one for the higher range.
I find that manufacturers, when deciding on what amplifier TYPE to make, they have a choice between a Voltage driven amplifier, where the signal is processed with low volatage, then current applied at the last stage. And then there are Current driven amplifiers where, the signal is processed with large current, and then voltage is applied . The faster the switching the faster the slew rate and attack/impact.
So I like to use Voltage driven for my upper end like Kenwood,Alpine,Clarion and many others, and for bass, amplifiers like Rockford,Soundstream Micro-dimension(uDimension),and the list goes on..
Now having said all this.., "RELEASE THE HOUNDS!!"

What will I hear when I get one of these awesome amps? My understanding is better dynamics, more open and realistic stage, better sense of space between the artists... Are there common rewards for the higher end models throughout all brands? e.g do all higher end amplifiers reveal more detail? I have heard that the Chesky Ultimate Demonstration Disc explains audiophile terms and then gives a music selection that demonstrates the audiophile term explained. Are some amps better at some tasks and weaker in others or does a good amp do everything well?
just pondering out loud,
just pondering out loud,

-- don't get me wrong though... the Sunfires were great amps.

the best sq amp imo, a 250 watt fullrange monblock, no filters or eq's or any signal manipulation except signal amplification, all signal manipulation would be done prior to amplification, preferable digitally(pxah900 maybe)

I agree with the ideal of all signal manipulation occuring in the digital domain and then being converted from analogue to digital only once. This was the original idea behind Type RF.
ok ok i have got you all beat. nobody but nobody builds a better amp than the lear jet 4x100!!! that thing pounds and is huge. man run one of these babies to a smokin pair of mei 6.5 inch 3ways in the door and (dare i say it) linear series 6x9s in boxes on the back shelf of your 81 olds 440. now your talkin sq!! nother beer over here please.
