Question Comp Selection, and Sourcing

First question, are there any good online retailers in Canada for car audio stuff? I'm willing to get stuff in conventional stores, but of course the typical online discounts are appealing.

Basically I'm getting my new car tomorrow, so I want to get parts fast, as opposed to the wait (and potential customs) on stuff coming from the US.

It's a '99 Mustang GT, with the Mach460 system, and I want to replace the ENTIRE thing.

The headunit will be a top of the line Kenwood, along the lines of this one: http://www.kenwood.ca/products/ListProduct.aspx?k1=2&k2=46&k3=172&pr=2704

Will probably get a matching 4ch and monoblock amps from Kenwood as well. Say 50W/channel, and 400W into subs for now.

So I need to choose front and rear components, and a pair of 10" subs. I'll build a custom sealed box for the subs, I've built custom boxes for a long time.

So what front and rear components to choose for SQ, on a budget of about $400 CDN? Front and rear speakers are 6x8, and there's the Mach460 tweeter pod at each window, I'm not sure what size tweeters fit there though...

Thanks for any help! If I didn't provide enough info, just ask.

I would recommend a Pioneer deck over a kenwood deck. I am a bit biased towards Pioneer decks, but they make very nice decks. Clarion also makes come great decks.

I completely agree. Unfortunately (or... fortunately :P) I have discounts available that make it nearly impossible to turn away.

$400 for both front and rear speakers, I would look at using coaxials in the back, just for fill.
Pick up something around $100 from any of the major brands and itll do the job.

Front components, Alpine type R maybe, or pioneer cs-720prs components.
The pioneer 720prs are great, I just spent two hours listening to a set last weekend, and very hard to beat for the pricetag.

Are there any good online Canadian retailers for those brands?

Also, how are the polk audio components in general?

I just visited my local store, they wanted $200 for DB Drive 680.2, they sounded ok, but I think I could do better for that money...

They also had a set of RE 6.5 components, but they werent setup to demo, so I couldnt test them, those were $250, I think thats a little high for those though.

Talk to them about pricing but in the end, you're buying authorized, and are provided a service. All of the above cost money...

I've ordered Macrom component M2s for the front and Macrom coaxial M3s for the back.

Pretty excited.

Thanks, that's reassuring to hear, since I was unable to audition them before buying.

So I'm very anxiously awaiting their arrival that first audition I get to hear.
