I'm looking for 4 sets of compoenents to put in my car 2 sets in front / back (yes, 4 mids/tweets in both front and back) and im trying to find what would be the best for price vs. SQ.

so far in local places I found that phoenix gold xenon/titanium and RF power series had quite good SQ.

I know that are MUCH MUCH less known brands that have spectacular SQ.. but are there ones that actually have noticeable difference over such speakers - and worth the extra $$.

last but not least, are JBL compenent sets good for SQ?

i'm looking for something with very good highs, the mids don't have to be too too good, as I'll be using 10s, which usually pick up after the mid's quite well (in my past history).

any comments or advice would help - im really sick of hearing distortion on my favorite songs

Why so many sets ......... and why would you do that many sets for SQ ?? Only reason I know that people do multiple drivers like this is to get more output. But there are better ways around that problem especially if SQ is part of your game plan.

I like SPL and SQ...

I'm building a custom speaker pod on my back seats near the window to point the 4 drivers at angles toward the window, with 2 tweeters cross firing on the rear window, and the other 2 across the top of my car - which will be done on the same in the front.

cross firing on the windshield, 1 mid bass near feet, another in the mid door region, with tweets acros the top.

I had type-x components, and it just wasnt loud enough. I also don't want to have to put my volume up all the way just for it to be loud.

that and im just trying different things in my winter car before I touch my mustang and start ripping things apart and fab'n.

the point of this setup is to really surround myself in the music, not just 2 sets pointed at me.

so what would be the best sq vs price (before you get into serous audiophile stuff which is hard to tell the difference).

i have no problem spending 6k on my system, since the custom pods im building will be switchable to my stang. I had a decent setup in that before.. I tried out the new line of Ultimate stuff visions's was carrying... 6.5 compnent in front, alpine 5x8 in rear, ultime 4 channel, ultime mono, 2 T2 subs in .9 cu sealed reversed. I'm definately obsessed with components now.. only cost me $900 cad for all that when I got it, and was definately worth the $ .. but this summer I'm going all out, and want to test some combo's in my winter car first

Dude... you don't have to spend alot of money for good SQL.... but you want to go about it the wrong way if you ask me....

Get a high power 6.5" for midrange and use a fat fing bullet tweeter or go with horns... you can buy your crossovers but I would recommend designing your own.. (or haveing a qualified shop do it) -or just use active with seperate channels all the way... (might be your best bet)

Stick some 8s or 10s back there for midbass.... use lots of power and you should get loud without all the interferance/phasing/groupdealy problems you are asking for with multiple component sets....

What kind of car is it and how much are you looking to spend on the speakers ?

I would go with a really good 3-way set up front and just a good 2-way set in the rear.

it's a 96 mustang, and im looking at around 6000 for my system...

as I was saying before, when i had type-x compenents (which seemed to be the loudest i could find) they weren't loud enough for me.
they were powerdd by a RF 800.2 amp. im not looking to win competitions, im looking to satisfy my taste for music... so perfect reproduction isnt as important as being loud.... but still important

what would you recommend for a good 3way component in the front. i want very loud and great sql. other than type-x i found RF power 6.5 to be great, better than typex now that i think about it.
