component selection?

To get a set that you don't really want right now would be just wasting money imho. If you have your OEM speakers, just power those with the amp for the time being (being careful not to crank it up too loud) and save your money for the set of speakers you really want.
Amplifying OEM speakers might seem a little nuts, but, the power from a deck is so unclean, that it can even help the worse speakers........ or blow them up if you're not careful.
Or, since you already have 6X9s in the back, even if you don't have speakers up front for now, wait it out. You'll still have sound at least.

Consider putting together your own component set. Maybe some Peerless mids paired with a Seas Prestige Tweeter? I have the 8" big brother to the Peerless mid and it's fantastic for the price. I also have the Seas tweeter and can fabricate the chamber for you for nothing (one time offer). I spent several days testing different size and shape chambers and taking real measurements before settling on a design. At that time Solen had around 200 in stock!
Point being, you're not confined to the overpriced stuff on the car audio market. Of course you will have to put together a crossover for them but that wont cost much if you assemble it yourself. Even if you don't they are not expensive. Any car audio shop worth it's weight in dirt can sell you the right caps and coils at no extra charge for the calculations (they have software for this purpose). However, the biggest bonus here is that you can (should) bi-amp later if you choose to do so.
