Component Speaker Decision
Component Speaker Decision
Hey guys,
I'll try to make this as simple yet specific as possible.
I am trying to decide between two sets of components unless an alternative in the same cost bracket can be suggested (and easily located). I should also note that I will be running an active crossover setup. I need something that will compete with a DD9515 in a 2 cu ft sealed box.
First set (which I have new in the box)
Kenwood Excelon KFC-X1700P
Sensitivity: 92 dB
RMS Power Range : 55 Watts
Peak Power Handling: 220 Watts
Frequency response: 35-30000 Hz
Diameter: 6.75 Inch
I had this set in my 2006 Matrix. Didn't do too much tweaking before I sold the car. Highs were a bit harsh and didn't notice an abundance of midbass.
Second set (contemplating buying)
Phoenix Gold RSd65cs
Sensitivity: 88 dB
RMS Power Range : 5-60 Watts
Peak Power Handling: 120 Watts
Frequency response: 45-20000 Hz
Diameter: 6.5 Inch
I heard about these from a few people. They seem to stand by them and say they have a decent overall sound.
I am not very versed with component speaker brands or jargon and am just looking for something that isn't harsh in the highs, is present in midbass and doesn't leave any gaps in sound. Also, obviously, I'm not looking for break the bank.
Thanks,
Smoke_31

AAAAAAA, thanks for you input. Those are the same thing's that I have been hearing. I guess the biggest decision is, do I roll with what I have (the Kenwoods) or pay for the PG's (which isn't a huge investment by any means).
