Have a 2000 Blazer with JL Vr 6.5" components up front, and a set of VR Coaxials in the rear doors, with a 4x60W amp
Looking to upgrade to either the ZR's up front, or change over to ID horns and a set of 6" chameleon mids in both doors.

Using a 12" L7 for bass, with 850 watts in a big ported box.
Thinking if I go for the horns, then a 3rd amp, and a 3 way crossover are going to be in order, as well as upgrading the 4ch to a bigger 2 ch amp.

I dont think you will get horns into a blazer with the large air box they have on the passanger side.. dont know if theres enough depth either.

Looking for better SQ, a brighter sound, and something that can keep up with the L7 without blowing up.
Thought the horns would be good due to the high efficiency. Guess they would be better suited to a bigger budget, with kicks, and a full EQ.

I have available: JL, Kicker, DLS, Image, Macrom, Rainbow, and a few others. I'd consider Focal, since everyone here seems to swear by it.
Want to keep the upgrade under $3k retail.
Thinkin now maybe the XR JL's up front, and put a bit more into the install, but awfully tempted to have a really top line set, as no-one in town has anything that good.

I like the sound of horns....they are very revealing.

They also require a ton of processing which can sometimes ruin the sound of a car.

I like my Utopia's, I don't think I would ever run horns unless I had some big amount of money to spend.

Horns take up alot of space for IMO, minimal advantages over a comp set. I'd go with a properly installed comp set from DLS,Focal or Image.
