West "different" style of install, lemme know your thoughts..

Hi all. Old member coming back to the forum for some input....

I just bought a good used 2003 Dodge Neon R/T. 140k, loaded, 2500$ cash. Needs new tires, but it will do the trick.

In my basement I currently have some gear. 2 alpine amps. MRP-F250, and a M600... I also have a ported Kenwood sub (an excelon I got from a guy for 75$ with box) NOthing amazing, but it does the trick, or did the trick in my last car.

Anyhow. I want to leave the factory deck in the NEON. I want to go COMPLETELY stealth. So im thinking this. Replace the front speakers with some components, LEAVE the stock 6x9's in the rear, power the front with the one amp, and the sub and its monoblock as well.

Here's the kicker. I just want to run the stereo off an MP3 player/Netbook/Laptop. The stock radio can power the 6x9's i i ever wanna listen to the radio....

So if I do this, I would install a remote amp switch to turn on the gear. As well, I would install a Line driver in the glove box, and run an RCa from the MP3, to the line driver, which would go to the 2 amps driving the front components, and the sub in the trunk.

Does that sound reasonable? What recommends would you have for a guy spending 250$ on the component speakers?!? Also debating if I should hook up the 6x9's to the amp?!?

It sounds iffy, but I have had my systems broken into WAY too many times. Im in Regina, and theft is BAD right now. Essentially I would put a cheap deck with an MP3 input, but it's just asking for trouble, as Im sure many of you know. I want people to think NO system is installed!

Anyhow, anyone see issues with that, and what 6.3/4's would you put in for 250$??

I had a similar setup in my neon, however I NEVER ran a line driver, and it hurt the sound/ab ility to drive the amps properly...

Here is the device that I would use to interface between the factory headunit and the amplifiers. It is a advanced LOC (for use with the factory cd player), it has a AUX in (to use with the MP3 or Ipod, it has a 3 high volt preouts, front rear and subwoofer (with subwoofer level control). This will allow you to expand later and add a amp to the rear speakers should you like. This is the proper way to integrate in and to do with while retaining tonal response.

For speakers, 6.75" component speakers will fit in the front of your car. MB Quart has some great speakers in the price range that you are looking in.
