I found the Eclipse loudness function added alot of depth to the sound imaging - which is unlike the Alpine that simply seems to boost the low frequency. The problem is that the Eclipse loudness function begins to taper off at about 60% volume, so you have to turn your amp gains up to keep the volume control around 1/2 and the richness sound.

I seem to find the 5 volt eclipse line (CD5435/25) lacking in midbass to bass performance, and when you turn the loud on its over bearing. The alpine units are easier to use(changing songs) but notice a lower quality from the mid to mid high range.

Ya iv had alot of time on my hands......
The alpine units pre outs may say 4 volts, but thats whell after clipping, the Eclipse rates there units a little better for shure.

My next unit will definately be a CD8455
