eDi 6500s vs CDT HD vs ?suggest something?
I've recently had the opportunity to make a direct comparison between the entry-level Focals (Access 165A component set, and the AVI Direct EL, and there was no debate, either to my ears, or to the car's owner, as to which set came out FAR ahead.
The only difference between the EL Express, as recommended by defro, and the EL Direct, is the woofer size. (direct is 160mm, express is 130mm) The Focal TN 47 tweeter is not especially impressive. What they call "Titone", the dome material, is nothing more than closed-cell foam. (remember those infinity polycell foam domes from years ago?)
While Focal makes many world-class speakers and systems, these do not do justice to the brand. Entry-level prostitution of a good name........
Stick with the AVI's. I don't really know how Bong manages to make money on these speakers; they're built far too well for the price. Just look at the size of the neo slug on the HF-25 tweeter. Silk dome. Cast frame on the mids, and NO serial electrolytic caps in the crossover.
Any by the way, they sound great.
