Energy 12" Subwoofer

Has anyone installed one of these? I'm thinking about picking one up today to replace my Infinity Kappa 122.7 (which I don't really like). I'm looking for good output with reasonable SQ. The other sub I'm considering is an MTX 7500. I'll be running it on a Kenwood 9102d with Morel Ovation components up front.

If Energy car sub is like their home subs, I have very little faith. Their home subs are completely useless - all they do is fart.

Thanks guys,
I actually called the guy who I bought the Morels from last night and he has a Diamond Audio D9 that he'll sell me for not much more money. From ehat I've been hearing that might fit my wants a bit better.

I went to the Energy booth at CES today, they did not have the subs up loud (they did not want to annoy the other displays) but from what I heard the subs and the comps didn't sound bad at all. I think the lines sound can be best described as crisp and clean, detailed but not edgy. They seemed to perform best in the mid-range (300 Hz -5000 Hz) but that was really n sub-par listening conditions at the show. They are available in Canada not the states (I asked if there was a plan to get them into the states.... he wasn't ready to give a quality answer). Since he did not have the right answer to that question I didnt ask about cost.

If you like the detail and clarity of Focal but think the tweets are too bright this could be a good selection, they remind me of Memphis, Image Dynamics sonically.

They had B&W car audio on display... in a car... no sourcing of individual components (drivers or x-overs) expected any time in the future... I disagreed and they didnt change their minds

energy home subs farts? far from it... i own one myself and i checked all the brands that were local of sudbury and its the best SQ sub ive ever heard.

and for the energy car sub i tryed one in a ported box and it sux. but they are made for sealed box so i would check it in a custom sealed. should sound decent

I still stand by my statement. This Energy sub may be refered by others as SQ sub, but it must be really SQ, as it has very tiny little output you can barely hear. If you start pushing it a bit, it does start to make farting noise. I like my subs to have some cojones.

My listening neither supports nor contradicts your points Sasha... just not enough face time in a valid listening environment (an absolutely you must let it crank prior to purchase). Every listener MUST listen for himself or herself and even then you haven’t heard it in a car...

Side bar- all the "what is the best sub/amp" threads are dangerous since it is virtually impossible to say which is better in your car, but they are very important IF they actually are from first person experience. Lets face it even in metro areas not all brands are supported, for instance: I was into car audio back when they only used one speaker per car and I finally heard Audison and Hertz at this years CES (yes it was worth the wait). Now Canada is FAMOUS for wide open spaces (1 person per sq province) so the 'local' retail shop may be 100+ miles/ Kilometers away, other folks experience is essential to help out the geographically challenged.

Hi i have two of the energy subs and i have not seen anythign that comes close for performance in price, i wouldn't sell them for anything. As someone else stated they have to be in a sealed box, i had a vented box and they dont perform as well. I have a custom sealed box made of inch thick mdf and it pounds for blocks. I have gotten tickets for it allready.
