Favourite CD's for sound staging, imaging, etc.

What CDs do you use to test your stage and imaging?
My personal fav. is The Lion King
- the CD is incredible as it was recorded from the original broadway performance. The stage performance features sounds coming from within the audience and across a variety of stage heights so it truly pushes the limits of your system with respect to ambience and imaging.
- If you've seen the performance (which is exceptional by the way), it will give you a whole new goal for your system

Yea, I like the IASCA 2002 Cd
I also like Metallica, AC/DC-Razor's Edge also Rush-Chronicals and even some Supertramp.
Iron Maiden is ok for imaging too.
It really depends on the song...like Fade to Black by Metallica is really good while For Whom The Bell Tolls isn't that great IMO. Thunderstruck is a terrible song for imaging but House of Jazz, off the Stiff Upper Lip album is really good.

I still like my Madonna Immaculate Collection CD I also have Tracy Chapman self-titled CD in my player right now. Awesome sounding CD. It's a nice one to play while at a show or what not for people to take a listen. 5-6 good tracks on it. She sings right in the center, the bass is nice and defined and there are lots of stereo-recorded instruments.
One thing I've noticed is that doing my own CD burns with MP3s taken off Kazaa and then converted to regular audio format when burned onto the CD, you really can hear the lesser quality of sound that the MP3 conversion creates. I know that an MP3 can be made to CD quality and the 'quality' number is indictive of that. Virtually all of my MP3s I download are 128-160, which I know isn't 300+ but almost all of the song I find to download are 128-160. The odd one I find over 200 is like a 2 hour download. Anyway, what I'm getting at is I made a 'SQ' disc with a bunch of songs I knew would sound good but I'm realizing as I listen to them in my car that the MP3 conversion flaws are becoming more apparent. I get all pissed off thinking it's my system and then I put in a 'real' CD and it sounds good

Oh, Focal's new cd was recorded REALLY well also.
I've always thought the Focal discs were nice but they've really out done themselves with this one.
I'm really hoping to hear that new Evanescence cd on a properly tuned system....I've heard Brng Me To Life and LOVED it I haven't heard anything else by them though.

Dire Straits, Brothers in Arms is awesome (this is what me and Marc listen to on our way to every show)and you can get it for 10 bucks at HMV at every sale they have. I own 6 copies (just in case I lose 5, I already can't find two of them)
Celine Dion - Power of love (song). Great for finding freq steering , thos high notes as she "ranges" should stay in one place
Brian Adams unplugged: Excellent bass line and un processed vocals (track 3 is great "I'm Ready") and blues version of a few faster songs)
Micheal Jackson History Album (best of)
What I never listen to for enjoyment:
Anything from IASCA (I'm so burned out on those cd's after a few thousand listens)
Village people
Bee Gee's
