Focal are great speakers, they are a really great speaker. If you want Focal, go for it and I will do what I can to make that happen for you at a good price. That said I also have a opinion and it is based on my years of listening. I find the top end is waaay too bright for me personally. My ears now side with another killer speaker line, Morel. If you are considering Focal, Morel should be a instant line to look at. They are a Israeli build house, all products come from Israel. Alpine for example uses Morel to build the type X component speakers (same with the older out of production top of the line Phoenix Gold). While both companies are innovators and build their own equipment (unlike many other companies), I feel that Morel has the edge when it comes to high end speakers.

The Pioneer Premiere ICEpower class D amp, PRSD2100T is a 2 channel amp that when bridged makes a minimum of 600w rms into 4 ohm. Exactly what you are looking for. ICEpower class D is one of the next generation of amplifiers that you will be seeing far more of in the future. Currenty Eclipse has had the amplifiers all to themself for the last 4 years almost, last year Pioneer Premiere launched their amps, same with Alpine and thier PDX series of amps. All amplifiers in this classification all use the same B&O designed circuity that has made them a great performer for the right application.

Just Curious...
Rob (MR2NR):
Are you sure Alpine uses Morel for the drivers in the Type X? I always thought the type X tweeter looked an awful lot like the ring tweeters from VIFA? Don't get me wrong the ring tweeter is cool and VIFA rocks and I think Morel is great too.
I have to say though that I have always admired the imaging of the Focal tweeters. Personally, I would check out 2-4 brands of Separates before I just "picked" something.
Personally, I am still not a big fan of "class D" in general. I can tolerate them for bass, but frankly for front end it is stlll class A/B all the way for me. I am not saying that all class D and ICE module amps are not good, just that there is something about switching power supplies that does not agree with me. I compare this to LCD TVs - yes they have improved and with proper setup there are no obvious flaws; however, when you compare it with a similarly setup Plasma you remember why Plasma is still the best for sports and movies...
Just my opinion, much respect and appreciation for your point of view.

hey mike, i gotta agree with you....
type X are designed on the vifa/scanspeak, i got it right out of the engineers mouth....same engineer that i asked" why do the fans push air down, rather than sucking the hot air up?"

Alpine has there speakers made/engenieered by Tymphany, not Morel.
Focal is good stuff, as are lots of other products. But the speker brand name won't mean much if you dont install it correctly. Take your time and install your gear correctly.
