Cool ...highs (a lot of questions)

I have never amped my speakers in my car. So far I have only used a subwoofer mono amplifier so I have no knowledge on wiring mids and highs. In my car I am planning on using 2 speakers up front and 2 in the back with an infinity 4 channel amp (111Wrms x 4).

1st question - the rear speakers are 6x9's. Do 6x9 speakers have lower sound quality because of their oval shape?

2nd question - If I amp all of my speakers the regular speaker channels from the head unit (rear left, rear right, front left, front right) will be unused right?

3rd question - Can I use the factory speaker wires for each speaker and hook them up to the amp?

4th question - If I must rewire the speaker wires what gauge should I use for 100Wrms to each speaker? Is rewiring speaker wires a bitch (lol)?

5th question - What is the deal with speakers that have seperated tweeters (components)? I know I must get these kinds of speakers for greatest sound quality but I don't get how they are wired up. Do I run the normal speaker wire (1 pos and 1 neg) to the speaker... how do I use this wire to hook up the tweeter and midbass? Won't some of the frequencies harm the tweeter (is this problem solved by the 2 electronic boxes that come with each set of speakers?)?

6th question - what about the ohms part. I have found that most component speakers have a 4 ohm load. On multichannel amps can each channel take a 4 ohm load or will I have to wire up the speakers like this:

front left 4ohm :series with: front right 4ohm = 8 ohm
arallel with:
rear left 4ohm :series with: rear right 4ohm = 8ohm
=
4 ohm.

Thank You very much for answering any of the questions.

1- their shape has little to do with it, build quality, T/S parameters and the purpose of the speaker defines the sound more than anything

2-correct, you will run RCA cables from the L / R pre-outs...

3- you won't need the factory wires. wires from the speakers will go directly to the amp, if running active, but more than likely they will go to the passive crossovers.

4- don't have to completely re-wire, just wire to the amp. and 18, 16, or 14 AWG would be fine. even 12 if you have any lying around.

5-those 2 electronic boxes are crossovers. they will have 2 pos, and 2 neg (1 pos, 1 neg for the tweet, and a set for the mid) for the speakers to connect to. and they will connect to the amp's speaker terminals.

6- this depends on the amp you get, try to get an amp that puts out the power you want to run to each speaker at their impedance

regards, Mark

I suggest you do as much reading about car audio as you ca before you begin. Also list exactly what equipement you have today, with make and model numbers. That way we can give better recomendations on how to hook things up.
You will mostlikely be putting the 4 channel power amp in the trunk right? So you can then hook up the rear speakers directly to the amp without using the car speaker wiring. If you do not want to go thru the work of installing new speaker wire from the amp to the front, thru the door grommets to the front speakers in the doors you can do this: connect the unused rear speaker wire to the front speaker connectors on the amp, and then in the dash connect the speaker wires from the rear to the front spearker wires that go to the speakers in the doors.
