Jl speakers in comparison to Alpine speakers
Jl speakers in comparison to Alpine speakers
The alpine type x compared to the jl audio JLC5650 evolution c5 and the jl audio JLVR650CSI. I'm assuming the evolution would be better but i'm just wondering in terms of sq would the alpine be better than both or visa versa? And also would the evolution be better than the alpine. Thanks
sound quality is a subjective determination. What 10 people think sounds good, another 10 think that it sounds crappy. You have all the tools necessary to determine if one sounds better than the other...your ears. Go listen to them as much as you can with your type of music. The one that sounds best to you are the ones to get. As far as Quality and reliability...both are stellar products from stellar companies.

they type x's sound much better tonally than the type r's in quiet, engine off listening. When the car is moving they both sound good. My friend has high end JL components in his car and they sound as good as the Alpines, and definitely not better enough to make an impression on me. Since, I'm not into using my car as a living room, I prefer to go with speakers that sound great while driving and can get loud while still staying clean. As such, I would never spend more than 600.00 (retail) on front components, as most above this range are ultra audiophile grade that require extensive installation design and implementation and quiet listening conditions to enjoy their full capabilities. Therefore, I would choose the one that I can get the best deal on that fits my criteria.
p.s. Love my JBL c608gti's...loud, ultra clean and excellent titanium tweeter.

There is a huge difference. JL sounds much brighter. I personally hate the way they sound, but some people hate Alpine. Two different beasts. R's still sound pretty bad, and X is a much better buy then anything from JL for the money.
And the smart consumer would also consider Morel..... Morel ® Loudspeakers if you are truly interesed in great speakers. Again good sound is subjective, however, it is always nice to stack the deck...
