Laptop -> Deck -> SQ?

Hey guys,

I'll be connecting my laptop via minijack/headphone plug to my kenwood deck. How is the SQ as far as these connections go?

Thinking about trying to find a deck thats reasonably priced with A/V inputs, then getting an external soundcard for my laptop with A/V outs.

Think this will be necessary? The only "good" SQ items I have on board so far as my subwoofers/amp (diamond M6's 12"/Arc Audio 1500w) Havnt done any front end work yet. Other then that im just using some basic pioneer speakers powered by my deck.

Would a line in/headphone jack give off noticeably different SQ for woofers compared to A/V's?

anytime you use the headphone port on a laptop or mp3 player your using an amplified signal that has gone through the players internal amp, these often will cause distortion and are less faverable to a true line out of the Digital Analog converter, (look for a line out on the laptop as it may have one) (also the same as taking the sound through the port on the bottom of an ipod as its a level line out)
So to finish yes your second idea will give the better sound.

I don't believe I have anything but a lineout, heres pics just to verify 100%

So, best option - External USB soundcard with a/v outs, and buy a headunits with a/v in? Without killing the bank, what would you recommend as far as a headunit goes that has preouts 5v+ and AV in?
