The CD5000 and it's 8volt non clipping low impedence preouts would more than likely be a better choice for your system. The 7000 channels more $ into the full color full motion display over the internal hardcore guts of the system and based on what you have, it would more than likely be a better choice. $ wise it retails for $800 but dealers sell for less......hint hint.

The best price to performance/features deck from '06 was easily the Pioneer 880PRS. I recommend taking a look at one.

The new '07 gear should be available shortly if you can wait a bit and see if something new comes out that you like also.

If i was going to buy a deck today i'd get the alpine
DVA-9861
DVD/CD/MP3/WMA Receiver
List price is 699. cdn, but if you talk nice you can probaly find it for 500.
More features than you need, but it has 3 pairs, 4v pre-outs, crossovers, eq, time alignment, etc.
I'd go for the HD radio because i travel in the U.S. a lot.

Just my opinion, but i think it would match the rest of your high quality equipment nicely.

Good Luck!

I switched from 9835 to drz9255 and I'm more than happy.

If you want to stay Alpine, wait for the 07 lineup, they basically have 9835 with 24 bit BB chips = 9887 (http://www.alpine-usa.com/images/products/catalog/2007USPC_010207.pdf). But I wouldn't hold my breath, I got disappointed with Alpine .

And Hardwrkr mentioned a really nice alternative. PRS880 .

But from the list of your equipment it looks like you don't need all these units with fancy xovers, because you are not running active, or are you?

If you don't need xovers in the deck much, I'd look at Denon/RF units.

That's all I got.

I wouldn't buy from e-bay, but if you're US shopping, the 9861 is 449 everywhere.
If you want last years model, the 9860 is still available for 344. US

the new alpine stuff is looking better... it seems they have un-gayed their decks again, offering some of the better bassengine features, and 4 volt preouts again.
i would definitely take a look at the reviews before i buy however.

what i might suggest is to buy a cheapie used deck for now, and wait until everyone releases their new 2007 stuff, then select from that.

even if nothing really appeals, the 2006 gear will start dropping in price soon.
