is this the sub
"Your source for the finest Hi-fi speakers and speaker systems"

12" SI D2

The SI D2 was developed with the following design goals: Extremely tight, ridiculously accurate, hard-hitting bass out of a small enclosure without requiring 1000 watts. If you want the utmost in fidelity while still being able to pound your chest in, look no further than a SI D2.

Features of the SI D2 include a unique cast aluminum, black anodized, 6-spoked basket. The unique basket allows more clearance between the top of the top plate to the bottom of the spider landing enabling the SI D2 to move an impressive 2.6" peak-to-peak. The basket also features twelve venting holes beneath the spider landing to increase air flow over the coil, which increases the power handling beyond its rating.

Other features of the driver also include a black anodized, rolled bottom voice coil former with 2.3" tall aluminum windings. Aluminum windings were used not only for the benefit of reduced weight, but also for its heat-dissipation abilities. Double stacked 1" magnet slugs with a bumped and vented back plate also help with the SI D2's peak excursion. The bumped and vented back plate's symmetrical design also helps stabilize the lines of flux, which results in a more efficient loudspeaker.

Dual 8" spiders with the voice coil leads wound into the top spider eliminate tapping and other problems associated with traditional voice coil leads. The combination of the dual 8" spiders, surround, and unique basket/motor result in a "bottomless" design. The suspension of the SI D2 will reach its limits before the voice coil reaches the back plate.

An SI D2 isn't just about sound quality, it's also about sound quality at extremely high volume levels. If you want a mix of pure, clean, accurate bass without having to shove SPL to the side, an SI D2 is what you need. With such a light coil, extremely light moving mass (Mms), and both a very linear and efficient motor, the SI D2 can respond to dynamic changes with extreme authority and accuracy without missing a beat. An SI D2 isn't just tight.it's EXTREMELY TIGHT!

Recommended Enclosures:

Sealed = 0.5 to 1.5 cubic feet.

Vented = 1.5 cubic feet tuned to 32 Hz, or 2.0 cubic feet tuned to 29 Hz.

The enclosure volumes above are after port and driver displacement.

500W - 2kW. Of course, the upper extreme is only recommended if you know what you're doing with it.

So 500w from a ZAPCO amp should be sufficient?
