Hi and welcome.
Properly installed you won't be disappointed with the speakers you're asking about.
Are you going to amplify them?....what do the rest of your goals looks like? (system wise)

whats your budget?....you want to blow his away by sounding better?..or getting louder or both?
As for keeping it light, I'd probably lean towards one 12" rather than two tens of the same make and model...but it's your choice of course...who's doing the install?

havent really thought about a budget at all actually, i really like the prices in this forums, from what ive heard id be saving A LOT of money, i just dont know if i can trust the ebay stuff on here. and i want the sound quality to be a lot better. maybe a little loud but not crazy loud. i didnt really think about just putting in one 12" i guess it makes more sense to do that. thanks

well the one 12 would weigh less and the box most likely would as well.
what do you drive? 92 prelude?
and yes, there are some good sellers on here and the vendors on the site are very helpful as well.

yes a 92 prelude, and i kind of would like to do the installation myself ive done simple things like doing a straight installation of speakers and a head unit in a jeep and a cavalier, i just dont know if i could handle installing everything else, plus im gonna need a custom sub enclosure to go inside where my spare tire was.

I believe that to be true for the most part. so, what are you looking for in a deck?....CD?,Ipod?, DVD?...aux?, satillite radio?....do colours matter?....lots of processing options?....already sold on any particular brands?
