I only have experience with a lower model in Focal's line up, but I have found them to be excellent, except their tweeters need careful placement.

It might help to determine what speakers would be a good fit for you if you say what kinds of music you listen to and what amp/s you'd be using. Also, what volume levels do you prefer? Personally, I don't like overly efficent speakers, or overly bright ones.

From that list, the Dyns.

Focal has never really impressed me, MB q can be nice, the the tweeters always hurt my ears.

Thanks for your replies...

I am very familiar with Focal and Dynaudio as a home system because I have owned some mini Utopia's $6K and very much like the Totem Model 1's with the Dynaudio mid bass ($3K).
Car Audio is a new can of worms for me now, since the 1st generation Orion Bluebooks almost 20 years ago since the last time I dabbled in car audio, things have changed since then.
I have an in on a set of Mk11's and looking to power them with a Audison Srx3. Dyn's aren't the most efficient, I'm hoping there is some compatibility in terms of power. I heard that Focals do well synergistically with Audison.
Focal K2p's or V2's I would like to hear. Iv'e heard the 165A I thought they were nice and as well as the Hertz Hsk 160 but that's the store set up. Does anyone know of a Dynaudio mobile dealer in the Toronto GTA?

Sheldon, there are lots of amplifiers that work well with Audison. Why there were so many of these "recommendations" though were simple if you look at it from a perspective that you did not know about. That is the fact that for the longest time, both lines were sold by the same distributor and that distributors training was top notch. This made it a easy to match together package for the sales person. As the lines are now sold by different suppliers, the recommendations on amplifiers has now also changed.

As far as the tweeters go, the choice of speaker and tweeter type may depend on your vehicle and or how you hear. I am hard of hearing, I drive with the windows down. I need a tweeter that can hang in there longer than other speakers, this is the MB Quart tweeter or the Focal. The Morel speakers are my hands down favorites, they blend seamlessly with each other and are smooth all the way through the frequency range. I would highly encourage you to consider Morel. www.morelhifi.com
