Just face it, your analogy sucked if you wanted to "prove" that all amps sound the same.
you cannot feel small horsepower increases by the feel of it

people who claim they can are like people who can hear amps
when put in the situation they always fail

25-40 dyno hp is not a small increase. If you don't notice that when driving you should go buy a Geo Metro.

Same with amps, if you don't notice the difference, go buy junk. Below clip point in ideal conditions, I don't believe that I can tell the difference, however with the way that real people use amps, I'll take quality amps with lots of headroom any day of the week.

so your saying you can get a 33%increase of power from a tube with a filter
you really need to wake up

Yea but these days it isn't difficult to find inexpensive or 'cheap' amps that have lots of ouput/headroom newb...

Even most entery level brands have full range amps that can do in excess of 200watts x 2 and 1200 watt mono blocks....

Are you really that dumb? I said you should drive a Metro IF you can't notice a 25hp difference. I already said that I'm not talking about those stupid steel tubes that every wannabe drag racer Civic driver has.

Try an aftermarket intake on 93+ LT1 Camaro's, LT1 B-Bodies, most diesel trucks, etc.

Automotive machinist means frig all to this, it's like saying you're an electrical engineer so everyone should bow down to you about sound quality

Haunz, I agree, but there are more reasons to buy quality than output/headroom. Reliability, quality of crossovers, cosmetics, flexibility, etc, etc.

HaHa....... cold air intake for the Metro (expecting 20-30hp increase)! too funny...

Check out the JLT cold air intake on a 03 Cobra...JLT cold air intake thread. Here's the Dyno results... JLT Dyno Result

now ur changing your story... yes Id agree with features, ability to reject noise, and possibly cosmetics could make one amp superior to another... just dont tell me that one amp has a gain stage that sounds better... (unless noise is an issue anyway)

On a side note many no namers or chepo chinese/korean brands still preform just fine in all these catagories...

I also kinda gotta agree with pinhead on the OFF TOPIC disscussion.... unless you find a vehicle that has a severly limited air intake ur probably only going to gain 2-5% in power with a CAI.... that mustang grabbed up what? 15hp but thats still less then 3.5% gain..... IMO you would be very hard pressed to tell the difference just by driving it...

</font>[/QUOTE] I don't see how I'm "changing" my story. Anyways, you can't prove a null hypothesis scientifically, so you can't prove that amps sound identical, you can only gain data that suggests it. I personally lean towards virtually all people not being able to detect the difference if it's just a pure gain block, expecially in a car.

As for the CAI idea, I've seen 30+ dyno RWHP on 93+ LT1 Camaros. I got to drive one before and after and it was a noticable difference, especially at high revs where the stock intake, that was designed specifically to limit power, was starving the engine.
