I will be usin using a BMW factory head unit (Blaupunkt CD43 Business) in my car system. It puts out 16volts to the little amp at the back of the car, I am contemplating tying my Hifonics Europa into the system to power the front speakers only and was wondering if anybody had any reccommendations for a level converter that will optimise sound quality. On a side note, Zapco line of products seem to have a a specific box that converts the signal to operate their amps via a sybilink cable. Does Zapco make a product better suited to tying into stock headunits?

Audio Control LC-6 works great. Used it in many vehicles. Allow for 1 or 2 channel input and gives you up to 6 channels out.

I have an E46 (similar radio setup to yours) and use an AudioControl 2XS crossover as the interface. If your HU is the same as mine, the outputs are balanced differential and I've found from experience that using an active interface with that input capability is the best way to go. Also the LC-6 is a good choice.

Thanks for all the tips. Is the 2XS used to for a sub amp? From the spec sheet I cannot tell if it would be happy with my supposedly 16V signal.

I essentially have the same HU as you and have done this setup. Don't worry, and you'll never get near that 16 volt level before it starts distorting or you have to turn the volume control about 15 times. You'll be fine with any of the balanced input AC units.
