quick question

So I just bought a 2004 acura tsx and I want to do a sq system in it.

The question I am asking is if you were to start fresh what would you use for equipment?

I am looking for you opians to open up my mind a bit and get ideas and decide what i want to do from there( if that makes sence at all). Please give me opians on what you guys have actually used.

i know that it a fair amount lands on tuning and placement.

thanks

And of course would depend on budget, wants and needs...... (as in cd or dvd nav based, trunk space for box)..... every person has different goals and different tastes. There is no one size fits all but there is a predictable outcome if you stick to a game plan. It does not mean that you need the most expensive equipment on the market at all, it means it needs to be properly matched together, properly installed, properly set up and properly used. Most important, it needs to be right for you.

I personally use a Eclipse headunit, dvd gps based as that will offer me far better use now that I am driving distances again. I have no desire to listen to things loud or listen to the cd of the week, month etc. I enjoy good sound. I do not like the top end response of Focal but enjoy their midbass. I am quite happy with Eclipse and MB Quart component speakers but hands down I would side with Morel. I have a limited space for subs, I would be stuck with shallow mount drivers and would choose Pioneer Premiere hands down. If I choose to ditch the reat bench seat and install buckets, I would use a Morel Ultimo or a pair of the tried and true Eclipse aluminum cone subs. Amplifiers, I like the current generation of ICEpower Class D amps that are on the market today. Eclipse being the oldest using the circuit topology, I would probably use them. I would likely look at a 5 channel amp if I were to go to the shallow mount sub route.

I will be upgrading the balance of the system this summer some time, unless I do her BMW Z4 (which she drives way more than I drive my truck and she is hot so she will win....) She will have a Boston Acoustics 5 channel amp (unless I find a older 5channel Eclipse XA5000) as a 5 channel is perfect for her application. Morel speakers and whatever sub I am able to squeeze in there. I am going to retain her factory headunit I am thinking at this time and use a Audio Control 6XS for the interface.

Alpine head unit(dvd more than likely), Morel components, RF power series amps, DD subs, ...all active set up using an Alpine pxa-h701 processor...somewhere around 3000 watts rms(2kw to sub(s)..1kw to the rest). Details would be worked out...but that's the general idea for my SQL set up with 5.1 surround capability.

a quick question, how much room and how deep is your factory door speaker? It is an issue on some Hondas
