Single 8" Subwoofer Suggestions....
#21
As suggested earlier, look into some of the drivers on Solen.ca, you may be able to find a high power driver that hasn't even been suggested. Look into pro-audio drivers as well. As long as you're not putting them in the doors, they should be up to the elements.

hehe none of that made any sense to me...

I saw your reason for an 8" sub was for SQ, if you have room, I would suggest a 12", ported, tuned low. You need T/A to make up for the group delay with a setup like that, but it will be well worth it. If you want to keep it sealed and could go up to at least a 10", I would suggest a JBL GTi series sub. I can't remember the name they have for it, but the coils (DVC sub) are designed so they "brake" each other as they reach maximum excursion. This means they can't bottom out and should be able to take all the power you have on tap without breaking a sweat.
I'm not from Canada so I can't help much with the prices or where to buy (and I didn't really even suggest an 8"), but I do think my advice is good as far which direction to go.

Listen, if you think that there isn't any middle ground between a single 8" sub and multiple 15" subs, then you may be beyond help. If you think that sealed has better SQ than ported and it doesn't depend on application and execution, then you may be beyond help.
I just want to point out that for a guy who was worried the Hertz ML1600 may not have enough midass output, you will likely be HIGHLY dissappointed in what you get from a single 8" sub.

Different vehicle, completely different goals.....so get with the program and add something contructive, such as a suggestion for an 8" subwoofer capable of 500w power handling with decent sound quality as requested, or simply don't add anything at all. If you are purposly trying to start something here, all I can say is take it back down to DIYMA with all the rest of the inbreads.

For good extention and output you should be looking at a 12" sub IMHO...
And even with a 1500 watt 15" sub and a big amplifer, it dosen't mean you need to turn the volume up the point that the whole vehicle rattles...
The only reason to go with an 8" is if you have serious space constraints, like trying to fit a sub in your dash or center console....
If you are dead set on a single 8" then I don't think anyone will be able to change your mind, but that is my $.02

Allan, sorry but knowledgeable people here (and DIYMA) can let you say stuff like
and not respond.
You obviously still have lot to learn(most of us do), so i would listen and stop with the attitude since it will bring you nowhere.
So, like another member mentioned, go with a 10" or larger.
Arc Audio ARC10 is a very nice sub that will dig very low in a sealed box. You can contact Donald at CentralStationCustoms.com.
