Slingshot,

Their hx-d10 was probably as close as they got, in their minds, to the 9255(excellent deck, btw...not that you didn't already know that

Yea the D10 is a nice deck for sure.... not quite a 9255 though. I listened to the D10 for the first time a few weeks ago...I did really like it even though, like the 835MP, it had too much crap for me.

The deck that I'm really interested in is the HX-D1....not D10 but D1....it looks much the same as the 9255 but it has it's differences and it's not under the Clarion name either it's something else that I can't remember right now...very sweet looking deck though...I haven't even heard of anybody in North America that has one though which is dissapointing for me cause I'd really like to hear that deck.

There is a guy who frequents the Elitecaraudio forum who has one(the D1, not the D10).

I wonder if I could have one shipped here from Japan?

It's not heavy so it wouldn't cost much...or perhaps someone would be willing to trade one for my 9255?

I have actually seen one listed on ebay before. There is some guy who deals with the higher end decks(denon, the hx-d1, etc) who listed both.

As far as clarion being more reliable than alpine... what were you thinking? We service 15 clarion decks for every alpine... and as far as sound quality... the alpines rule

That came from a clarion/alpine dealer. I know Clarion has been a very reliable brand for the local shop as well. I prefer eclipse to alpine, soundwise. I haven't a/b demoed a clarion to an alpine yet.

Clarion isn't more reliable to Alpine or vice versa. If a shop tells you they have to warranty x times as many of one versus the other it's usualy because they sell that many more.
