I'm looking to get some nice SQ speakers. Ones I have in mind atm are

Boston Acosutics Z6
MB Quart QSD 216
Dynaudio 340
Kicker SS65.2
Focal K2 165

Any other recommendations?

Also for crossovers I'll be getting a AudioControl DQXS which already has Six Channel Three-way Crossover. Is it better to use that as a corssover or seperate crossovers for each speaker? (http://mobileaudiocontrol.com/produc...47&l1=5247&l2=)

Hm. I'd say the Dyn's, to be different. And they are a quality speaker. Everybody and their dog's uncles best friends wife's cousin around here (and everywhere else) uses Focal so it's getting boring to see. Quality product, just getting overplayed. Boston's are different too. Not a big fan of Quart. Kickers could be interesting.

The good ol'advice applies to Miluni... go listen to as many set as you can and figure out which one you like the sound of, in your budget and go with those ones.

Maybe if we knew your budget we'd be able to think of a few more recomendations?

BTW have you checked out the local guys, AVI?

I don't really know which stores around Vancouver carry high end components. Budget is $x,xxx so anything but I'm looking for something that's worth the money.

So if i'm paying twice as much for the dyn's then focals i want it to be at least reasonably different and not just the price.

Have you checked in to Macrom?

They used to be a supporter of the board, but are now distributed through Kankar.

I've heard great things about them, so I'm sure you won't be dissapointed.

Whoa easy there Mikko. I didn't say Focal was bad. When have I ever said that? Is it extremely popular, especially in BC? Yeah. A little too much so? I think so but that's me. I like to be a little different and not just follow what everybody else is doing and buying. I said Focal is quality gear. It is. I think it's overdone right along with Audison. Doesn't mean it's bad stuff. I imagine the two go together like peas and carrots but like JL and PPI were in the mid 90s, it's nice to see something a little different here and there.

And yeah actually I have seen some cuts to Coustic, which my brother happens to be using so....

Speaker City carries AVI, which is definitely worth a listen. I 'think' they carry Focal but not entirely sure. They might be Dynaudio dealers too? I can't see the Dyn's being more expensive than the top-end Focals (K2P series?) but have a look into it.

Audiolines and BoyzAudio carries Focal. Boyz opened up a snootier shop called Axis Audio too on West 4th I believe.

Ralph's Radio carries Boston and Kicker.

The good Quart stuff I believe is at Visions still. There might be an independant that carries it to but I don't know.

Morel is good stuff too. Hzemall Customs is a dealer.

The Hertz speakers line are not too bad sounding also... you could hear at Axis on West 2nd. along with the Tru Tech amplifiers.
