As Canadians we are our own worst enemies. We want everything as cheap as possible. So we purchase non-domestic stuff that is cheaper.
We look to quickly at the bottom line and don't consider why this stuff can be manufactured cheaper over seas . . . perhaps because wages are cheaper, land taxes are cheaper because governments aren't helping and protecting their people like ours, and there are fewer regulations on the production lines etc. But all we care about is how cheap can we get what we want so we can get more of what we want for cheap.
This hunger for cheaper prices is one of the reasons our economy is hurting. Manufacturers are shipping out to different countires (I live in Welland. A few months ago John Deere announced they are shutting down this plant and moving it to Mexico because they can make more money there). The end result, 800 jobs have been lost to a different country.
The more that we buy stuff overseas and encourage such practices, the more manufactures will respond like John Deere did and we will have fewer and fewer jobs up here . . . but how often do we care about our fellow citizens' lively hood when we are looking for the cheapest price.
I say this here because we rarely respect product mark-up. Stores need to mark-up the price because they need to pay employees, need to pay for overhead, they need to pay for benefits and so on. Products need to be marked-up by roughly 100% just to make the machine work. For us as consumers to demand lower mark-ups is to say to the shop owner "You don't deserve your wages . . . and for this sale, I want you to be on welfare so I don't have to pay as much."
So Next time that we pay full price, lets rejoice that we've enabled a person in our community to receive adequate reimbursement for all of their hard work!
It costs a lot of money to run a shop. It takes a lot of hard work to run a shop. Its about time that we as consumers say "Thanks for the service you provide. I want to pay full price!"
. . . now that I'm seriously off topic, where can I buy MB quarts in the Niagara Region?

The Void is pretty tame (often lame really) with not a whole lot going on usually. Pricing is rarely discussed. And in the electronics industry, no mainstream shop is making double cost - just guys like Will @ UA who have blank cheque customers.
The only thing i know about MB Quart is that theirs 2 different types of MB Quart products. The GOOD German made stuff, and the CRAPPY china made stuff. FS used to sell both depending on what it was. I believe it was the reference line of speakers that were german made and were very articulate. BUT since you cant get them anymore oh well. lol
