Just for the record... ANYONE who thinks their ears..or any sense for that matter doesn't lie, is a ... well, dreaming? That's a nice way of putting it.

The more you give the better the sound gets
What kind of music do you like and are you going active or passive ?

 

I bet the boss would sound better with a cd than the arc would with an ipod!!

actually Dateline had an interesting episode about senses last night. You'd be amazed at what we can miss. Just an example of what they demonstrated: 3 minute speed date, half way through they switched the person with a similarly dressed but obviously different looking person and less than half of the other folks realized that it was someone else, particularly if they distracted them with an addition of a sweater or hat or some other attention getter. Interesting stuff!

 

Actually on my Alpine 505 running loseless i can hear a difference but its pretty minimal from CD. That boss does have like 110 s/n though lol

 

are we talking bruce springsteen(the boss) or an amp.. either way niether should be played in a car!!!!

 

I put an ipod up against a cd and a vinyl record then ran it into
Furman Power Conditioner
Tapco 31 Band EQ
DBX Crossover
into 800 and 1400 Mackie FR amplifiers
only to tell the party that I would no longer use their crappy media
CDS and VINYL only

and to the OP, how about looking for a tube amp if you want REAL sq??

 

So all this is not so different from home audio after all.
