SQ Build Part List Review

Hey guys, I'm new here, loving the forums and how much information it has.
I'm planning to build a strictly sound quality oriented car audio system. Here is my list of things I plan to buy, I just want members to tell me other recommendations/reviews of parts.

JL Audio 13W6v2
JL Audio Slash 1000/1
JL Audio 300/4
Soundstream Ref 4.760
Hybrid Audio Legatia SE L6
Hybrid Audio Legatia L1v2 Tweeter
Hybrid Audio Imagine I61-2
Clarion CZ-500 Head Unit

I plan to use the Imagine I61-2 for the rear fill powered by the 300/4. The 300/4 will power the L1v2 tweeters + the Imagine I61-2 while the Soundstream Ref 4.760 will be bridged to power the Legatia SE L6's at 360 Watts each. The Slash 1000/1 will power the 13W6v2 in a ported box at 3 Cu. Ft. tuned at 20 Hz, designed by me. Thanks for looking and contributing your opinions.

Why wouldn't you stick with the JL amplifiers for the L6's? They are super expensive for a reason. The Soundscream will take the quality down some notches.

Are you sure? Soundstream has been trying to get a nice SQ amp out. I don't want to go with JL with the SE L6's because I have a limited budget, and I honestly don't want to spend $800 on amp just for the SE L6's. If I wanted to run 300 watts+ for the SE L6's I'd have to go with the JL HD 600/4. Not a cheap amp The THD level of the Ref 4.760 is pretty low, and the damping forces are pretty good.

hey man have u bought any of the gear yet? i have a good used 300/4 u could save some money on! ialso have a pg titanium amp that will put out a load of power for 2chans at 4 ohms. are you only interested in sticking with the equipment you labeled? The titanium amp i have will destroy that soundstream amp for clarity and power especially if your gunna use the sounstream amp bridged.. why not just use a 2 chan for the l6's

your in durham? or durham area GTA?

I haven't bought any of the stuff out, I just wanted people to give me feedback for my future build. To be honest, I don't see why Soundstream has such a bad reputation, from the past. I understand about the past, but the present day Soundstream shouldn't be as bad as everyone is saying. Apparently the new line of 2010 is a LOT better. I'm not interested in the JBL gti 15", as I designed my box already for the 13w6v2. I don't care much for output, and the SQ that the W6 produces is amazing, I've heard. They're not reference drivers for nothing. Plus they look a lot better. This is a system just for my ears, and who ever is in the car, I'm not going to compete with this system.

By the way, the Titanium 1000.2 that you're selling doesn't have any adjustments, and it actually has LESS power than the Soundstream 4.760. Titanium 1000.2 = 250W @ 4 Ohms compared to the 360W the 4.760 puts out at bridged 4 ohms.

The reason why I am NOT going with JL Amplifiers for the L6's is because they have unneccesary adjustments, that I will not use/need and lower power. The THD is pretty much the same, and the Soundstream is a LOT more cheaper.

alright man just offering. and iv run w6's have you? the gti's are literally in a class of there own and blew away the w6 that i was running. oh and the amp i was using on the w6... JL 750/1 HD.... doesnt get much better in terms of sq and overall design for the size. that amp is wicked.

as for the soundstream read the pdf manual and it only puts out 320 at 14.4 and 247@ 12.6 volts. as for the "adjustments" im not sure what your referring to because the pg has every adjustment needed to run boths mids and bridging for a sub. but looks like your clearly set on your system so no use asking for people to review it. good luck with your system it will be good none the less

just my2cents...

It's not that I'm "set" on this system, it's just that someone has to recommend something that's feasible to me. And I'd only buy new, don't like to buy something used unless I have absolutely no choice, caused by money constraints.

Looks like good choices to me. I prefer the idea of sticking to one brand of amplifier for cosmetic reasons though.

Have you considered ARC amps? I made the switch from JL amps to ARC amps and was happy with the results.

Whay about using a 6 channel amp to cover all your mid and hi's? Might be an easy way to save a few dollars. You could even add some of the saved money to pick up an external prosessor. The more control you have the better.
