Question SQ (not sqL): 2*12" Type-Rs or 2*10" Perfects

Aight, so as my signature would suggest, I have a VERY shitty system installed right now.
Subwoofers costs about 40 bucks each, box was 50, amp was 100.

Amp was the only jewel, I must say, it was well worth the 100 bucks!!!!!
The guy I bought it off of wanted it back after 6 months, he missed it or something. :P

Anyways, I'm after total SQ. I do not care how loud it is, I want to hear every note, I want to hear it clear, and I want to hear it like its emerging from my dash.
Well its not true if I say that I do not care how loud it is, well it has to be good enough to be listenable. The guy in the next lane can know I'm here. That's about the extent of my SPL wishes. If the SPL can be higher, then thats just the cream on the cake.

Aight so heres two things I'm looking at right now.
2 10" Infinity Perfect Kappas
or
2 12" Alpine Type-Rs

Which one would you audio gurus recommend and in what kind of an enclosure? I'm guessing sealed?
If there is another sub woofer that I should be looking at. Please point me in its direction. Budget you ask? 500 bucks for at least 2.
Forums on sites like these are my best friend, Ebay is my second best friend.
Also, would an RE 12" SX1000 be qualified as a SQ sub?
Boston Acoustics, seems a little pricey to me. Because I love the look of dual subs. Also, I'd rather go for 12". I know bigger is not always better, but I love the look of dual 12s.

Thanks in advance!
Looking forward to reading your replies.

well the best thing would be to remove the "looks" from the equation, that makes its easier to have you spend your money on how it sounds, which unless you drive from the trunk, is what you should be aiming for... its not hard to spend 500 on one really good sub, its also easy to get 2 fairly decent subs for 500, if you want real SQ your likely better off having one really good sub then two mediocre subs, then again what do i know... all i want is to go boom really loud for 2-3 seconds ha!

Lol, schooled.

So with the looks out of the equation, what would be the best SQ sub out there?
Under 500 that is.

I cant see what you're running up front, the bass sounding like it's upfront is highly dependent on your front end setup. as for smooth sounding SQ subs that wont break the bank, I recommend the DIYMA reference sub.
But rather than two subs, consider just getting one JL 12w6 or 13w6.

there are lots of subs in that price range that will fit your criteria.

out of the two you chose, I'd pick the Perfect. (I dislike the type R's sound)

you could by my 13w6 for a lot less than 500, and it sounds much better than those
2. but between the those 2 the infinitys hands down!

If you want just SQ go with DIYMA or JL 12w6. Both of those will do considerably better than the one's you mentioned.

Re I don't see as much of a SQ sub other than their new XXX but even that one is nowhere near as clear as some others on the market but on the plus it looks awesome.

I have never heard of DIYMA.

Most of my knowledge of car audio products comes from crutchfield.

I searched DIYMA on google, and I do not see a product page.
anyone wanna point me in the right direction?

Also, if the JL 12w6, in the HO box? Or a sealed one?
And for the people who didnt mention a choice.
If those two were the last ones on earth.
Which ones would you pick for total SQ?

total sq would be 12w6v2 in a sealed box. you will have a very very hard time finding something that sounds better IMO
