SQ (not sqL): 2*12" Type-Rs or 2*10" Perfects
and kevin i think your gonna have to get over this love of Focal if your gonna come play with the boom boys... wow that sounded gay..
but kevin (zzzzzzzzz) knows his SQ its been his thing for how ever long so if he recommends it its probably a good bet

I have a DIYMA for sale actually. I haven't heard a better SQ sub, but I have it in a tiny sealed 0.7 cubes box, which was custom made by N1Sound with all their SQ technologies. The sub blends with front stage like nothing else. It has to be heard.
I am selling it because it is not loud enough for me, and will not take hard pounding, as it is quite a gentle sub. It is $250 firm with the enclosure. It only has like 20 hrs of play, so it is broken in, and I got it brand new.

An internet search should reveal both sides of ownership of the DIYMA. It looks neat but I would be worried everytime I leaned on it.
Who mentioned a W6 for ultimate SQ? LOL!
If you want killer bass SQ, get a really good set of midbass. It's far more important

don't buy diyma 12, it's for special kind of people who prefer weak subs, like me.
i didn't want to reply yesterday, but how is getting a sub "sq"? do you have stock speakers up front? well, there goes your sq.
and
Dukk, with strong midbass, even average sub can accompany your "SQ" lol. even the current infinity subs the OP has would do good.
i don't know whats up with diyma and other people, i beat the out of it occasionally and yet to have any problems. anything from hiphop stuff like ugk, paul wall, bun b, 8ball & mgj and so on is no prob. i esp love to **** prodigy's smack my bitch up remix and its fine. i guess i'm lucky.
hehehe.
for the prices its going right now, its a great sub.

I want perfect tight bass, then I'm gonna be adding components up front.
And about midbass......
Would that be 8" woofers?
Or smaller?
8 is what usually people go for if running 3 way. you have choices for a 6.5 or 7" dedicated midbass too if space is an issue. there are not so frequent occasions of people running 10s or whatever bigger thing for midbass, but that's crazy
.
there's no rule per se, its all about integrating it all together.
back to sub, i think it's not critical and i'd stick it in last. but if you are really going to stretch out the whole system install through a year or something, then sure...
i dont have any complaints from the sub, so...
if i did hear a mechanical noise at least once, i'd back off you know it

I've got a nice pair of SQ driver's here:

To add though, I hope you are putting some effort into the rest of the system as just having some high-end SQ subs without a good sounding front stage won't do much for the overall sound experience.

You're kidding right? I'm going to on the limb here and say that you're a SPL guy that's never heard a sub play under 140db otherwise you would have known better. JL w6 is one of the best rated subs today and you don't have to take my word for it. ask diyma, eca, ca, ag, and anybody who's competently competed in SQ before. You have any idea how many cars at the finals had the w6 a few years ago?
In your other statement you're right. If you can put a 8"+ mid-bass up front, you don't need a sub but anything under a 8" you will need one to cover the low notes.

hey now, wait a minute here, I still own that sub mister!
