SQ setup

Hey guys, I'm a huge SQ fan and i'm looking to upgrade...

Right now in the front I have Polk momo 6.5" components in kick panels and 5.25" sets in the doors. I love my setup but would like to upgrade because I'm an audiophile. So they're both coming out. It was a tough choice between the focal k2p and polk sr6500 but I think I'm gonna go for the polks. They've just done too well of a job with that driver. Anyways, I'd also like to add either the focal 13ks or 13ws woofers in a small sealed enclosure next to the SR's. These things need as little as .18 cu ft.

I have 2 12" Polk SR subs in the back which are very smooth and I honestly couldn't wish for better subs. I've tuned them well so the bass isn't localized to the rear, but sometimes I turn down the subs, hence the idea of throwing the focal woofers in the front. Any feedback?

thanks!

If you are not getting rear bass localization, then what is the rationale for the additional woofers up front? I mean do what you want but if you are already turning down the bass, why add more?

yeah, I may have focal fever after all...

this is my reasoning behind it...
I was thinking about high passing the mids to somewhere around 200hz, tweets will prolly be 4-5k, and then low pass the subs to about 50-60. There will be a decent sized gap there and I need something to fill that in. I guess a midbass driver will be a better idea.

I mean, I could low pass the sub to 83 or so and high pass the mids to 60-65 and I'm confident that will sound great, but I'm not so sure that would be as accurate.

... audio nervosa, when in doubt upgrade? That is why I call myself a music lover (though I do love the audio gadgetry). I would say to you, what precisely, is not accurate with your current system as compared to a top notch home stereo or a live musical event? That is what I would focus on... There are too many variables to address in an automotive environment other than the most insistent of shortfalls. fix the bass if that is the worst, or you could work on your center image, your overall tonality, your height... and so on.

Keep fixing the worst shortfalls till you are satisfied... then buy a new car and start over

okay, thanks for your inputs I'm just gonna tackle this situation 1 component at a time. Right now I just need to decide on a midbass driver to go along side my components.

I hope I wasn't misunderstood. Its not that I had a huge problem with my setup or I didn't like it... It served me well, quite well, in fact. I just feel ready to upgrade and wanted some suggestions. One thing i definitely need to work on is sound deadening. It'll take me a while because I am occupied with a lot of things right now, but I'll keep you guys informed.

i would definately go for the K2P's!!!!! and the 13ws is a sick sub, i just heard mine for the first time the other day and wowwwwwww.

u should see the gap between my mid and tweet. 2.5khz (-24db) lpf and 5khz, (-18db) hpf lol. thats just cuz the Tbe is way too shrill when its not broken in. sum music it likes the 4khz but alot of the time it doesnt.

but yah.....im a serious focal nut. its quite the fever...

k2p and a YES to the 13ws is my vote.
