15W/8530K00 from scanspeak is an amazing midrange/midbass that i have used alot and they are 252 each and the morel mdt30, although large is one of the best value tweeters around for only 90 dollars a piece...thats 684 plus tax for what has the potential to be an amazing component set if you install them properly

well, I went passive because it was easier and at that time I wasn't aware that active was better. Do I need a real crossover when I go active or the head unit will simply do all the job ? I was also wondering do I need to plug each channel on a speaker or I can plug everything like a passive setup ( 1ch = tweeter + woofer)?

in an active set up you need one channel of amplification per speaker(s) that are being used in a specific bandwidth, so for example, if you were using a 3 way system with 1 subwoofer, 2 midwoofer/midrange, and 2 tweeters you would need 5 channels of amplification....another nice thing active does is allow you to run more speakers after the fact without having to change your crossover, in a passive system if you decide to run another tweeter you will have to change the passive network, again proving that passives are the devil

my car is a 4 door sedan (corolla 2003 CE) do you think that I should go with a front stage + rear stage or only a front stage. Currently I have only a front stage but at the beginning I was with a pair of 693.7i (infinity) which a totally hated, but I fell a small lack with only my front. Is it because they are not good enough or the setup is not optimized (time alignment, position...) or it's normal.

Well, going active is an option, but to do it properly you need a better head unit like that Alpine or Eclipse mentioned, as well there are others, or if you want to keep the headunit you will need a nice processor. With only upgrading the head unit you may have to say goodbye to the rear fill, but may still have it with a processor, but will need another amp. So you just have to make a decision whether you will go active or passive, as you will not be saving money with active set-up, and you will be adding more work in set-up and tuning, and if you dont really know how to tune it, you will have poor results. Going active has potential benefits over passive but it will be more work and possibly more money if you start at the point you're at now. And if you want to get another amp for rear fill in active set-up, it is best to look for another regulated amp like your JL, so that the voltage flactuations do not mess up your cabin speaker tuning.
So if you want to save money and make it easy on yourself passive is the way to go. SQ is in the ears of the beholder. It is easier to screw up the active set-up, and I have heard several active set-ups not done properly, and average passive set-up blows those actives out of the water, as it is harder to mess up going passive.
For passive set-up no matter what you go with, as long as it is good gear, you will have great results. Figure out whether you want to have hard dome or soft dome tweeters. I prefer soft, as to me they sound better when pushed loud and are more forgiving on poor quality music material.

Two people on here are selling Alpine Type X Pro current model set for around $300 CAD BNIB, that is a steal.
Also, I could be wrong, but if you care for strong midbass Morel offers it on higher models only. From what I heard the lower models do not have strong midbass, but Morel could have improved on it since then. Not a big deal if you run subs though, as they will reinforce midbass. Because of weaker midbass in those particular designs the midrange was exceptional.

to be honest I don't really know how to fully tuned an audio system is it that hard ?? I've heard many alpine gears (not the type X and the F1) and I wasn't really impressed by it. Morel seems to be quite a good choice but I'm questionning the used of a rear fill...

Morel speakers have some of the largest voicecoils in the car audio industry. Voicecoils in the Dotech series are 2 1/8" and use 6 sided aluminum voice coils to maximize the number of windings and their ability to dissipate the heat generated. A side benefit to this is a increase in efficiency and it raises the power handling of the speaker. I will be happy to provide a quote on Diamond to you as well. As far as CDT goes, yes I am a dealer but have never ever ordered in any of their speakers. Personally, in the last 22 years I have been at this, Morel will be going into my vehicle this spring. Been too long without a system myself.
