Oh BTW, I do believe good wire/interconnects are one of the keys to a great sounding system.

Say what you want, **** wires = **** sound.

If you want to compare high end cables to other high end cables or Radio Shack wire you can test cable and return with these guys:

The price of admission to high end interconnects may suddenly be a good deal or you may find little or no difference. I say don’t follow, lead! Find out for yourself, I have sampled MANY of their offerings and I have developed personal opinions due to personal experience and not due to something I read in a forum.

Once you get over the basic $.99 per metre offerings from RadioShack the rate at which cables climb in cost is epic compared to the rate they increase in "sound quality"
Agreed.

I never said the price was justifiable, just that better wires/cables = better quality whether it's a large or small difference in the quality depends on who's listening.

Wire is very cheep but cable is often more expensive than you think. There must be someone besides me who orders/ buys spools of I&C type cables (terminated/ unterminated, shielded, coax, special jackets, water block etc.) and you do pay friggin outragous prices for the cable... the price is not far in many situations to the price of the RCAs being discussed. My goodness paying 15 bucks a foot for a spool plus shipping is not a big deal for most petite instumentation cables either. This is why you see so much PVC, it is a cheep insulator.

Having said that, the cable vendors (Monster, Tara, Cardas, Straightwire, Wire World, Kimber, Audioquest, MIT etc.) arent going out of business even during these tough economic times so... yeah it is a profitable business. Dont complain, make your own cable and jump on the gravy train...

So the question is: Do you want your wire to sound a certain way? Or let all of the signal through with least change?

^ that is exactly the point, which product can modify the signal the least OR which one modifies the signal the way I want it to. IMO they would be darn expensive EQ. Also when does a cable become too expensive, I agree they should all be as inexpensive as possible (cheaper is better)
